Goal | In the first half of 2nd grade, 53 of our 2nd graders have participated in after-school practices for our musical show, "The Unity Tree." Our performance was Dec. 13, 2017, and the participation was been amazing. It is a play about diversity with a powerful message for us all to get along. Parents were thrilled and keep asking when we'll have a Spring Play. Our goal is to keep momentum going for 2nd graders to again experience being onstage and part of a group focusing on delivering a performance. |
Description | We are in the process of researching a good play for spring, and have narrowed it down to a couple of plays. They cost from 69.95 to 89.95. This includes the scripts, teacher directions and a CD of the music. |
Benefits | Our 2nd graders have to wait until 3rd for other school clubs, so we created the drama club just for them! 2nd graders gain experience in performing for an audience. We have also noticed students gaining confidence in reading their parts, and also memorizing songs and speaking parts. They were nervous before the performance, but they were all so excited afterwards and eager to perform another one! |
