Goal | Hidden Oaks Drama Club is trying to raise money to offset the parent cost of a trip to Full Sail University and Universal Orlando on April 14, 2018. The full cost per student will be $145. This includes the cost of the workshop, entrance into Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, and the charter bus to take us up to Orlando and back. |
Description | The concept of The Hero’s Journey is one of the basic principles of storytelling, from the earliest myths and legends to today’s modern moviemaking. In this Universal Studies program, students explore that journey at Full Sail University and at Universal Orlando Resort™ as they learn the key components of character framing and development, plot development, backstory, and more. Pre-Visit Lesson: Through a series of activities, students will understand, develop, and define the 12 stages of The Hero’s Journey (or Monomyth). Students will be able to describe the four hero archetypes as they choose one of the archetypes to write their own outline of their hero’s journey. At Full Sail University: Students will learn how to identify the four hero archetypes using visual (digital) descriptive techniques. Students will learn about composition and framing related to the portrayal of the various hero types. At Universal Orlando Resort: Students will explore the backgrounds of well-known characters to determine their hero type, while identifying how rides and their designs might reflect the hero they represent. |
