Goal | I would like to be able to showcase student artwork on a formal display. |
Description | There is currently no gallery space in Stuart Middle School to properly display student artwork such as paintings and drawings. I would like to be able to showcase student artwork at events and standalone art shows. |
Benefits | "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." -Pablo Picasso A formal gallery space or display area benefits both the students and the school by providing and opportunity for students to present their artwork to an audience, as well as advertising the art department and the hard work the students have done. This will increase pride in student work, in peer relationships, and the work process. Knowing that their work will be on display, many students may be more inclined to put in extra effort. Students will be able to have the opportunity to convey public messages in their artwork, giving them a voice. Like many artists throughout history, they can address things like bullying, pollution, and healthy lifestyle choices through their artwork. They don't have as much motivation to put the effort and planning into their statement pieces if they know they won't have an audience. "Even a child's voice can be heard around the world" -Malala Yousafzai |
