To provide differentiated reading instruction for all students in the ELA Classroom.

A class set will be shared among the 7th grade ELA classrooms of the 8 editions of Scholastic SCOPE magazine through out the year. Scholastic SCOPE provides current event articles geared towards the middle school reader. Teachers will have the opportunity to differentiate their reading instruction to meet the needs of all reading students.

The Scholastic SCOPE is beneficial because it provides students access to current event articles that are high interest and relevant to a middle school student. The company states it best with the description of the articles that are chosen for each edition of the magazine. "Our fascinating and powerful multigenre stories open doors of curiosity-whether it be a recent world event, a timely debate, or a riveting short story." (Scholastic)
