Grade 1st Grade
Subject Math
Goal

The goal of this project is to put together STEM bins for the whole 1st grade team at JBE. These bins will be hands on material used to help students in the areas of math and science.

Description

Students can work together to imagine, plan, design, construct, and engineer exciting hands on projects with these materials. A variety of materials are needed to challenge our young thinkers and to share across the grade level so many children can benefit from this project. We are asking for blocks, legos, popsicle sticks, velcro dots, pipe cleaners, straws, magnetic tiles, creative flakes, and play dough.

Benefits

When using STEM bins, the students will be *Thinking divergently, inventively, imaginatively, and creatively *Solving a problem with specified constraints on time and materials *Building and improving artistic design and sculptural skills *Applying structures to real world designs *Constructing a variety of two dimensional shapes, three dimensional shapes, lines, and angles using basic geometry *Examining multiple perspectives in visual arts *Building fine motor skills

And the best part is, they just think they are having fun!
