| Goal | Research affirms the central role of music in learning, and librarians are listening—and designing programs with a deep mindfulness of how music supports learning. Music is proven to do everything from boosting numeracy to developing empathy; from improving speech-language delays to augmenting comprehension. Whatever the tools, method, or motivation, fostering the musical bond within students is critical to their learning success. Whether students come wanting a deeper experience with music or just to enjoy tinkering with different sounds, our goal is for our students to have a positive learning experience in the LMC… and beyond |
| Description | How do we bring music into a high school library media center? By providing a wall of musical instruments for our kids to explore, play with, and have fun! Yes, the band room houses quite the orchestra of instruments. However, the Wall of Sound in the LMC is designed to house unusual multicultural unique instruments from all around the world. It pays homage to the humble beginnings of making music and how all cultures have created, adapted, and adopted music into their traditions. Students are encouraged to remove an instrument and play it. |
