Goal | We want to increase our Kindergarten students' listening comprehension with the use of listening stations. Also through this project we want to increase the love of good literature and teach our children how to respond and communicate their thoughts about stories they hear. These listening stations will also help us teach story sequencing, retelling and main idea. |
Description | These materials will be set up in our Kindergarten classes as listening stations for groups of four to eight students. The players are cassette and CD ready with bluetooth access. We already own a large library of books with CD's and cassettes that will work perfectly with these materials! The Junction boxes will make the player available for up to eight children at a time instead of just one student at a time. The multipurpose headphones will be set up with the other equipment and have individual sound buttons for student sound comfort. These materials are for FOUR Kindergarten Classes. |
Benefits | Our new reading series, Benchmark, emphasizes the need for young children to develop listening comprehension through the use of listening stations. Students will listen to stories, following along in the book and then have many opportunities to discuss and respond to the literature. Our children will have fun while listening to many great books and learn how to communicate their ideas and thoughts about the stories that have heard. Building listening comprehension skills is one of Kindergarten's major standards. |
