Goal | The goal of this project is to provide the chance of a lifetime to a team of hard working and innovative middle school students known as the RoboStallions. This team has been hard at work since August 2015, solving a real-world problem introduced during the First Lego League Trash Trek Challenge. Teams, from around the world, were challenged to choose one piece of trash that usually ends up in local landfills to research and develop an innovative solution. It wasn't always an easy task but this team rose to the challenge each and every step of the way eventually earning themselves a 1 in 20 chance to compete in the FLL Annual Global Innovation Semi-Finals in June. Now, our goal is to raise funds to send nine eager middle school students and their coaches to the First Lego League Global Innovation Awards Competition in Alexandria, Virginia for 3 days in June. Funds will cover flight, hotel, transportation, food, and project expenses. |
Description | WORLD-CLASS! As part of the Education Foundation of Martin County's Robotics Program, our Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School RoboStallions have just learned that they are one of 20 FIRST Lego League Global Innovation Award semi-finalists. Our RoboStalllions earned this honor from over 233,000 participants, on 29,000 teams, representing 80 countries! They will be traveling to the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Alexandria, Virginia, this June to compete for the top prize of $20,000. |
Benefits | The funds will provide nine ambitious and innovative, engineer-minded middle school students and their coaches the opportunity to travel to Alexandria, Virginia in June to present their innovative solution to the judges and patent office representatives. If awarded these funds, Dr. David Anderson Middle School's RoboStallions Robotics Team will gain the most amazing opportunity and the experience of a life-time -- one that will teach them all about carrying a dream to the end. They will gain knowledge of project development, marketing, leadership, and learn how to patent a product. Most importantly, the team will benefit by learning the steps to becoming an entrepreneur through the process of STEAM (science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) workmanship. If you'd like to donate by check, please make check payable to the Education Foundation of Martin County at PO Box 291, Stuart, FL 34995. Thank you for your consideration. THANK YOU to the following supporters who have contributed to this remarkable team of middle schoolers.
