Goal | Students will use 3-D shapes such as a cone, cube, cylinder, pyramid, and sphere to solve math problems in our second grade geometry unit. The students will identify the shapes and their attributes such as the number of faces, edges, and vertices of each shape. |
Description | These 20 smooth wooden 3-D geometric solids will help my students gain a hands-on concrete understanding of 3-D shapes. The students will be able to identify, analyze, and compare the 3-D shapes individually and in group work. |
Benefits | The students will work individually and in groups with these sturdy, wooden manipulatives to solve math problems calling for an understanding of 3-D shapes such as the cone, cube, cylinder, pyramid, and sphere. Students will be able to locate and name the number of faces, edges, and vertices of each 3-D shape. |
