Goal | My goal is to attend the seven-day Conscious Discipline Summer Institute professional development workshop. I would like to enhance my previous training as an educator and be able to bring a message of hope, safety, connection and problem solving back to my classroom. |
Description | This seven-day professional development workshop event is presented by the creator of Conscious Discipline, Dr. Becky Bailey. Conscious Discipline is an evidence-based program that integrates classroom management and social-emotional learning. It utilizes everyday events and addresses the adult's emotional intelligence as well as the child's. Participants in the workshop will learn to respond to daily conflict in a way that transforms it into an opportunity to teach critical life skills, using real examples, real practice and real connections to bring the concepts of Conscious Discipline to life. The workshop truly immerses participants in the philosophy of Conscious Discipline so that they may be able to bring these concepts back to their classrooms to enhance life skills and learning. |
Benefits | By attending this workshop, I would like to be able to incorporate the principles of Conscious Discipline into my classroom. My curriculum focuses heavily on teaching social-emotional skills to young children and the concepts of Conscious Discipline greatly support that. By using Conscious Discipline, I hope to be able to build connections between teachers, students, families and our school using the skills of discipline to solve problems, the power of self-regulation to increase attention and creating a School Family to foster a caring, cooperative environment that uses daily life to build character and social skills in my students. |
