Goal | Martin County High School art students will participate in the Memory Project, creating a special, once-in-a-lifetime gift for a child in another part of the world. In the art room, students will be able to draw to scale and replicate colors from a photograph in order to create a memory portrait of a Peruvian child. We are seeking donations to help reach our goal of sending $15 along with each portrait to the memory project. |
Description | The Memory Project is a non-profit organization that helps art students create and donate portraits to children from around the world who have faced substantial challenges. During the 2018-2019 school year, MCHS art students will create portraits of Peruvian children. Once the portraits are all completed, they will be mailed along with monetary donations to the organization. The actual portraits will be delivered to the children in their respective country and the video of delivery will be shared with Martin County High School and the community. Visit https://www.memoryproject.org/peru to learn more. |
Benefits | Students will learn portrait skills that align with the Florida State Standards in art. Simultaneously, they will develop compassion for others who are less fortunate and take pride in spreading joy through art. This project is also a great way to engage students in geopolitics! |
