Goal | For PCE 3rd grade students to exchange heart felt art with Syrian refugee children. The goal is to promote intercultural awareness and inspire creativity through the universal language of art. A donation of $12 per student is requested to cover the coordination and shipping costs of the exchange. |
Description | 3rd grade students will be working on their pictures of peace and friendship in the art room during the months of September and October. Their artwork will be sent to a refugee camp in Syria filled with children of the same age. The Syrian children will then create their vision of peace and friendship and send it back to our PCE students. . |
Benefits | PCE students will learn about Syria and the children who love to play and dream about their future just like Palm City Students. PCE students and Syrian students will trace their hands on the back of their art symbolically touching hands across the globe. Students will benefit from feeling connected to students from cultures very different from their own. |
