| Description | Let's Find Out and Science Spin are two Scholastic weekly magazines for students that cover topics in social studies and science. Children learn all about being a good citizen, different holidays, careers, responsibilities as a citizen, history, and many different science topics! These colorful magazines also reinforce reading strategies that are taught at school like sight words, thinking about reading and phonics. With the subscription to the magazine comes access to the magazine on-line and interactive games that correspond with the topic of the week! |
| Benefits | The benefits of using these magazines are endless. Building background knowledge is the biggest benefit because children don't always come to school with the knowledge that others may have. They do not all come to school on the same "playing field." In addition, vocabulary develop is amazing when using these magazines! It is so wonderful to hear the students begin to actually use the new vocabulary they are learning! These magazines are current and up-to-date topics which the children enjoy with helps the children stay engaged and actively involved in their learning!! |
