| Goal | In order to achieve equality in my classrooms and provide all students with the required tools for success, I would like to purchase class sets of Ti-84 graphing calculators for use with my students at South Fork High School. |
| Description | Many students at South Fork High School are unable to afford graphing calculators for use in math classes and in turn stop taking higher level mathematics. By having these calculators available to Algebra 2 students, I can teach them how to use these calculators to be successful in higher level mathematics classes and increase these classes accessibility. |
| Benefits | Graphing calculators are a requirement for success in higher level math classes and on national assessments such as the SAT and ACT. All AP and IB level math classes have portions of the exam which are graphing calculator required. Without learning how to use these calculators makes the AP and IB courses out of reach for many students. These calculators are also allowed on the SAT and ACT exams which is important for student college admission. |
