| Goal | The goal is to have tiles for the 8th graders to paint their legacy. They love this project but tiles are expensive. Our school is in need of more tiles to continue this tradition. |
| Description | 8th graders at Murray Middle School paint their legacy art on a white tile to commemorate their time at MMS. It teaches them what a legacy is and how to plan and implement a successful project, and how to prepare your art to be on display. |
| Benefits | This is a community project. Past art teachers began this project and each art teacher has continued it. Tiles started going up in the art hallway around 2000. We are continuing a tradition of MMS. Students love looking at the tiles every time they walk down this hallway. It is an evolving gallery of art. This project supports multiple art standards. It shows students what an "art installation" is and why we have art galleries. This project is super engaging to 8th graders and really brings out the best in them. |
