Goal | The goal of this project is to engage readers and promote a love of learning through reading high quality nonfiction text with science and social studies topics and content. 19 students would get to enjoy reading both magazines Scholastic News and Science Spin and would be able to bring their copies home with them to share with their families and keep. |
Description | Scholastic News is a weekly print and digital magazine filled with engaging on level text, colorful photos and posters, online resources, text feature practice (maps, charts, timelines, etc.), and amazing videos. Students learn about past, present, and future science and social studies topics and content in an engaging and innovative format. |
Benefits | Students are so excited to read the weekly articles, play the online games, complete the standards based questions, view the high quality videos, photographs, and colorful posters, and participate in class discussions of the science and social studies topics presented weekly.The lessons are presented in class and the magazines, once completed, are sent home for the students to share and discuss topics with their families. |
