Goal | To equip the classroom with 2 Spectrometers in order to analyze chlorophyll and other chemical & biological fluids |
Description | The PASCO Wireless Spectrometer is specifically designed for introductory spectroscopy experiments. The Bluetooth and USB connectivity enable use with tablets and computers. With this one apparatus, you can measure intensity, absorbance, transmittance and fluorescence, making this a powerful and intuitive tool for your spectroscopy needs. |
Benefits | The classroom and students would benefit greatly from a spectrometer to be used in higher level biology labs. I have had to borrow the spectrometer from Martin County High School many times for use and it would be great to have one on South Fork High School's campus, not just to be used within the Biology classroom but also Chemistry & Physics. Some examples of inquiry-based labs I could do with a spectrometer: Photosynthesis with DPIP Absorption spectra of plant pigments Concentration of proteins in solution Rate of enzyme-catalyzed reactions Growth of cell cultures |
