| Description | During the course of the week, students will have 60 minutes of independent reading (IR) where they are encouraged to read age-appropriate books of their own choosing. While we instruct our non-English speaking (NES) or limited English proficient (LEP) students in English language arts classes, it is preferred that their IR time is spent reading for enjoyment in the language of their choice. |

Offer a variety of books, both fiction and nonfiction, in the language(s) spoken by students.
