Goal

To create a more engaging, student-centered math classroom by implementing strategies from Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics through the use of student and teacher easels, whiteboard tools, and professional reading to guide implementation.
Description

I’m working to transform my math instruction using the strategies outlined in Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics by Peter Liljedahl. This research-based approach focuses on getting students to think deeply, work collaboratively, and engage actively in solving problems.

To bring this vision to life, I’m requesting:

A student easel to hold vertical whiteboards for group problem-solving

A teacher demonstration easel for modeling math tasks

Dry-erase markers, string, and erasers to support organization and smooth group work

A copy of the Building Thinking Classrooms book to guide me in applying best practices and building a more effective math culture

This setup will make math more interactive, visual, and collaborative—just like the book describes. I’m excited to keep learning and growing as a teacher while helping my students become confident, independent thinkers.
