Goal | To provide HOMS middle school students with the opportunity to register and participate in this year's FIRST LEGO League season robotics challenge, UnEarthed. To give our middle schoolers the opportunity to be creative while working as a team to develope strategies to solve real world problems related to Robotics and Technology. |
Description | During the FIRST LEGO League UNEARTHED season, students will examine how each tool, innovation, and work of art connects us to the people and ideas that came before us. Through critical thinking and design skills, students will uncover the past to discover the future. FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge students (grades 4-8, ages 9-16 outside of the U.S. and Canada) will unearth hidden treasures and piece together the past as they embark on this thrilling journey of discovery. Students will identify and research a problem related to the season theme and then design and create a possible solution. They will also identify a mission strategy and design, create, and code a robot to complete missions during a 2.5-minute Robot Game. |
Benefits | “FIRST LEGO League UNEARTHED will spark innovation and creativity. It will encourage students to uncover their futures by digging into the past,” said Chris Moore, CEO, FIRST. “By using their creative thinking and LEGO Education technology, students in countries all over the world will discover how society and technology progress through the ages, and they will be inspired to develop new innovations that support a brighter future for all.” |
