Goal

To secure funding for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) incentives that foster a positive, motivating, and engaged classroom culture for my incoming 5th-grade math and science students during my first year of teaching.

Description

As a first-year 5th-grade math and science teacher, I am establishing a PBIS reward system designed to recognize and reinforce positive student choices, resilience, and academic growth. In a subject area where students often encounter abstract concepts and challenging problem-solving, this system will celebrate daily efforts, teamwork, and persistence. Contributions will directly fund tangible incentives—such as school supplies, educational math/science games, and small positive reinforcement rewards—that students can earn by demonstrating our classroom values.

Benefits

Boosts Academic Engagement: Rewarding positive behaviors directly translates to higher classroom participation, focus, and collaboration during rigorous math and science lessons.

Encourages a Growth Mindset: Acknowledging effort and improvement helps students build confidence when tackling difficult concepts like fractions, ecosystems, and scientific inquiry.

Creates a Safe Learning Environment: A structured incentive program proactively promotes respect, responsibility, and community, minimizing disruptions and maximizing instructional time.
