Many of my ESE students require additional support to develop foundational reading skills. Traditional paper-and-pencil activities are often not enough for students who benefit from hands-on, multisensory learning experiences. Research shows that students learn best when they can see, hear, touch, and manipulate materials while practicing new skills. This project will provide supplemental multisensory phonics resources that enhance explicit literacy instruction and help students strengthen their phonemic awareness, letter-sound knowledge, decoding, encoding, and word-reading skills. Materials such as magnetic letters, sound boxes, phonics games, manipulatives, dry-erase resources, and other interactive tools will allow students to actively engage with literacy concepts rather than simply observing them. By incorporating visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic learning opportunities into daily instruction, students will have more meaningful practice with essential reading skills. These resources will help make learning more engaging and accessible while providing the repetition and reinforcement many struggling readers need to achieve success. The addition of multisensory phonics materials will increase student participation, boost confidence, and foster a positive attitude toward reading. By making literacy instruction interactive and engaging, students will be better equipped to develop strong reading foundations and become successful, independent learners.
