| Goal | Students will learn that no matter what unit they measure something in, it can be converted to the other system. They will learn the difference between metric and US "standard" system of measurement. |
| Description | Students will read the book "I am longer than you" and will then have the opportunity to measure items using a ruler that has both metric and standard units aligned. Even if a masurement is taken in metric and has a higher number, it doesn't mean it is longer. Students can also convert one unit to the other by using a simple calculator and the formula found in the award winning book. |
| Benefits | Students will practice measuring the length of things. They will also practice division and multiplication to determine the length in the other unit of measurement. |
