| Goal | Students will start to or better understand charitable nature in the face of large scale devastation and how one man came up with a plan to feed many people who may be in that position. |
| Description | This will be a kit that can circulate from class to class as an activity center. Students will read the Orange blossom book :Jose Feeds the World" (or the teacher can read to the whole class) then in the center, students can look at a cookbook, choose a recipe and do the math to see how much food would be needed to cook for hundreds of people at once and rewrite the recipe on a card with the new quantiy of ingredients. Students will also have the opportunity to look up the countries mentioned in the text and learn about them with the atlas. One the write on wipe off world map, students will mark the areas read about in the book. This book is based off of the real life workings of Jose Andres who founded World Central Kitchen. |
| Benefits | Students will be working with math by multiplying measurements of a recipe to cook for a large number of people. Students will learn about geography of these countries hit by disasters and learn about humanitarian good works. |
