| Goal | To purchase touch-screen tablets to provide students in self-contained ESE classrooms with accessible technology that supports individualized learning, communication, independence, and engagement. |
| Description | Touch-screen tablets provide an accessible and interactive learning tool for students with a wide range of abilities and learning needs. Students can use touch-based activities to practice academic, developmental, communication, fine-motor, and functional skills. Tablets can be used with educational programs and applications such as Boom Cards, Lexia, IXL, communication supports, digital books, matching activities, and other individualized learning resources. The touch-screen format allows students who may have difficulty using a mouse, keyboard, or traditional computer to actively participate in learning. |
| Benefits | Touch-screen tablets will provide students with hands-on opportunities to learn and practice skills at their individual levels. They can also increase student independence and allow teachers to provide differentiated instruction more effectively. |
