Education Foundation of Martin County's Evening of Excellence a Success

Monday, June 4, 2012

More than 250 elegantly attired men and women attended the 6th annual Evening of Excellence | Bids for Kids, hosted by the Education Foundation of Martin County, at Mariner Sands Country Club in Stuart on March 24, 2012.

Guests feasted on a filet of beef and lobster dinner prepared by Chef John Saundry, sipped on pomegranate martinis poured from a vodka luge, and packed the dance floor to boogie to the sweet sounds of "Eclipse.”    During dinner, Michael H. Olenick, Vice President Corporate Affairs for The Morganti Group, the event’s premiere sponsor, acknowledged the many accomplishments of the Education Foundation. "The Morganti Group is proud of our commitment to the students and teachers of Martin County.  There is no better organization than the Education Foundation of Martin County to support the enhancement and enrichment of our high-ranking educational system,” said Olenick.

Over 135 silent and live auction items generated competitive bidding, with three sets of six V.I.P. tickets to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade fetching $3,000 per package as the top prize. By the evening's end, more than $110,000 had been raised.

"The Education Foundation of Martin County is thankful for the generosity of all those who attended and supported our event," said Executive Director Lisa Rhodes. "We are thrilled that we will continue to be able to support Classroom Enrichment Grants, the Education Foundation's S.T.E.A.M. Initiative promoting student achievement in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics, and our many other enrichment and recognition programs," she added.
